MelaVite – cost efficient feeding
MelaVite – cost efficient feeding
Application of molasses based liquid feed supplements in foraging dairy and beef cattle has become a common practice in countries with advanced stock-raising industry for decades.
In numerous countries in the last 10 years, production of liquid feed and supplements have been growing steadily, even though – just as in Hungary – number of animals has been decreasing significantly for decades. Liquid feeds offer great opportunity to use byproducts of the food industry.
Molasses based products offer a natural solution to overcome energy deficiency in stock-raising. Liquid feed is tasty, contains high level of energy, easy to digest, and aims to increase nutrition adsorption.
Characteristics of molasses are fundamental features of all products in Argos Feed Group Zrt.’s MelaVite family: stimulates rumen, increases appetite, tasty, renown source of energy and conditioner feed.
A series of experiments prove its beneficial effect on feed utilization and quantity of milk production. These studies clearly show superior performance of those groups fed with blended feed containing MelaVite MV60: fluctuation in day-long temperatures and appetite were found smaller than in the control group. This was just as evident in daily milk yield as well. After an adapting period of carbohydrate rumen-fermentation, appetite exceeded former 100%, and in spite of extreme heat weather (temperatures over 30°C) it remained this level for a long time.
MelaVite SG product family with glycerol provides a significant amount of energy. Utilizing positive dietary effects of glycerol, it allows rapid energy intake, increases gluconeogenesis, has antiketogenic and liver protecting effect. According to a wide range of experience gained by users of MelaVite SG95, its application in feed noticeably increases dry matter adsorption, efficiency of digestion, improves quantity and quality of milk.
Supplementing feed with urea-containing MelaVite MVU ensures continuous nitrogen and carbohydrate supply of rumen bugs by the duo of urea and carbohydrate. Synchronization of these provides a better environment to them, therefore helps their multiplication. Increased number of such microorganisms improves fiber digestion, exploits nutrients in feed better, and can assist formation of more microbial protein. Urea supply can ensure non-protein nitrogen for microbial protein synthesis, therefore partly can substitute dietary protein sources for ruminants. Safe dosage of urea supplement can be 1% of total dry matter (equals 0,3 g/tfkg/day), if rumen of the animal adapted well and diet is rich in easily digestible carbohydrate. (European Food Safety Authority, 2012) Using MelaVite MVU, 0,2-0,4% more fat and 0,05-0,1% more protein can be achieved. (Improvement can be extreme in case of low quality basic feed.)
In those production groups (primarily recently calved cows with 30+ kg/day milk yield) where combined, positively interacting intake of carbohydrate and rumen degradable protein is necessary, just as glycerol based liver protection, MelaVite MVU+G is a handy choice. Experience shows the product can be a good solution to decrease high starch levels in TMR, for safe and continuous adsorption of cheap nitrogen-ammonia, meanwhile protects liver in situations when fat mobility can occur.
Remarkable cost reduction can be achieved with Treovite in feeding dairy cows, heifers and beef cattle. Its featured component is a byproduct of L-Threonine (THR) production, having high crude protein content and excellent set of amino acids. It has positive dietary effects and animals also like it for its taste. Thanks to its unique composition, it can substitute and complement some of the expensive protein carriers while feeding ruminant animals.
In year 2012, hit by a notable drought, products of Argos Feed Group Zrt. proved: in a situation characterized by starch and energy deficiency found in silo maize and silage, shortage of alfalfa hay and silage, expensive whole crop maize wheat and barley, dairy and beef farmers chose to feed liquid byproducts and they succeeded in substituting part of the expensive soya, sunflower and rapeseed in a cost efficient way.
Wide range of liquid products is available in order to suit different dry feed diets, easy to store, transport and apply. Applicable in all seasons, using mixer-distributor tanks, it can be easily inserted into large scale technology. Products have ca. 50-60% dry matter content, rumen protein synthesis is increased by enhanced proliferation of rumen bugs. It decreases waste and dust while distributing feed, thereby increases hygiene of stock raising.
